July is a time of flowers in the grass of GriggsDakota.
If only the world could live on beauty.
It is everywhere.
The roadsides are a hostile environment for flowers, with dust and gravel, graders and mowers. It makes the flowers seem fearless. My imagination runs wild.
Does this look like a wedding to you?
I can imagine this flower as a learned lecturer. Where did your seed come from? Bird or Breeze?
It's dry, as I have announced before, and has been hot.
So their beauty fades quickly.
From bud to bloom to fading flower, all on one stem.
I remember when milk weed was a novelty and we would watch the plants, then pick it as the seed pod opened with its puff of flying down. We would use hair spray to try to preserve it as it dried. Beautiful.
Now they are a common noxious weed, but undeniably beautiful in July.
And so, on this day in July, we celebrate the fearless flowers of GriggsDakota.
