Winter's False Start

Winter raced in, but it jumped the gun.
We are calling it back and disqualifying Winter from this race. It knocked the power out this morning.
We are happy for the precipitation it brought to our fields. It will be enough to give the Winter Wheat that we planted last month the moisture it needs to get started.
There is still plenty of time for it to sprout and develop a root system.
Winter will not win this time.
It was 80 degrees Fahrenheit earlier this week.
This early in October is too soon for Winter to hold on, even in GriggsDakota.
We will get back to the corn field in a few days. Today was not too discouraging, because we need the moisture, although it came with freezing temperatures.
The power is back on and the snow is melting. When the lights are out we know the worth of electricity in GriggsDakota.

  1. I love these photos. With the exception of the funny snow-covered patio chair, they make me feel nostalgic, like they could've been taking 40 years ago.
