The winter of 2012 has been a pleasant surprise.
We have had very little snow and ice.
Bare ground in February is unusual in GriggsDakota.
So, it was with some enthusiasm that Farmer Fred tackled the snow removal up at the bin site.
Farmer Fred likes Winter, snow and all.
It was surprising to see how much snow accumulated as he pushed the tiny looking drift.
To the end of the bins.
This is the beginning of the snow pile for this winter.
Very different from last winter.
Our snow fence has done its best to catch the snow we've had.
It has remained straight and ready as the snow has fallen and melted through this unusual season.
By February of 2011, the snow fence held all the snow it could. The snow drifts were higher than the fence.
This makes us happy.
And although some there are now predictions of a dry Spring, we smile. Last Fall, some folks were fretting about the possibility of two hundred inches of snowfall over the winter. It is still impossible to predict the future.
For now, we are enjoying our tiny little snow pile in GriggsDakota.
