Roads to Nowhere

I have alluded to our hesitation to complain about our waterlogged summer. Greater Dakota is suffering from too much water in ways that make our situation in GriggsDakota seem insignificant. Power on Kirsti and her colleagues have put together a video that gives an idea of what is happening in the
Devils Lake Basin.
Farmers are suffering in ways we can only imagine. Please take a few minutes and watch this video:
Please click on the link above.
I took a few photos that show roads to nowhere in the area
Stump Lake which is about a half hour drive from our farm has filled and flooded along with Devils Lake.
Birds perch in dead trees on land that has been claimed by water.
Downstream interests have stopped the natural overflow of the lakes. More farmland is being lost every day as the lake expands. I know its complicated, but the whole story needs to be told. Rural residents should not bear the whole burden of this disaster.
Closing roads will not end the painful journey.
We need to find a better solution than living with Roads to Nowhere....

  1. Thanks for sharing this Mom! You're so right. Rural residences shouldn't have to drown.
