Crystal Winter

Although we have had snow, the weather has been pleasant. Every drive provides a new vision of crystal splendor.

And we are still hauling grain.
 Though bare of greenery
Our trees have been frosted with crystal on a regular basis.
The yards are filled with tracks from wildlife and I wonder where they are during our cold days and nights.
I see no place to hide.
The ground looks like it has been sprinkled with diamonds.
The sunshine enhances it, but cannot change it. The cold is too strong, the sun is too weak in December.
Wind will remove the light coating of frost we see.
 Though neglected for decades
Nature paints its dead with freshness.
There is pristine newness in every direction,
and on every old surface
As we enjoy the art of winter, it awakens life in all of us in GriggsDakota.
