The Invasion

It was an ordinary morning, or was it?
I thought the mares were restless and perhaps a bit overprotective on this old familiar ground. Then, distantly, I heard the sound.
I remained calm while transfixed as the invasion began. The insistent buzzing indicated trouble was just about to start.
Soon the sky was filled with the invading forces.
The wild turkeys ran for cover as
The invaders swooped into our open field.
More and more. Soon too many to count! Terror gripped me.
Even though they were only dragonflies.
We're still chewing through the barley. It's running well, looking good, and we're having fun in GriggsDakota.
